Emilia 405

Interactive digital artwork, 13', France, Germany, 2022

Emilia 405 is an interactive experience that accompanies a research thesis on the integration of indexical images in video games. The experience resembles the narrative “walking simulator” genre and features a strong metadiscursive dimension. The player is sent into a simulation to solve a problem related to subject E.405, a virtual replica of a certain Emilia, a criminal being monitored using simulation-based predictive technologies. Gradually, it becomes clear that a larger problem is at work, one that seems to be disrupting the very nature of the simulation.

The game incorporates indexical images in a metadiscursive and fictional sense, illustrating not only Emilia’s relationship with her double, but also the model and its original in the process of digital creation.

The process of creating a 3D model of Emilia using photogrammetry.
